The same way foo.bar is a placeholder file name, Foobarism is a placeholder religion. Help us develop it.

Perhaps you find Pastafarianism too humorous, but you think Vonnegut's Bokononism is interesting? Well, this might be your Karass. We're not Bokononists, but we might borrow some of their ideas.

We do think the world is at a veeeery interesting juncture:

• We're well on our way to wiping ourselves off the planet;

• Automation is wiping out jobs capriciously;

• The Precariat is growing, and growing angry;

• The world's many social contracts are under active "renegotiation;"

• We all have super-power tools easily at hand;

• Those tools can be used for good or ill, but their business models often bend toward ill;

• Few of the world's political parties or religions are facing these issues; and

• It's ridiculously easy to form groups and share knowledge online.

So let's figure out what guidelines we'd like to live by, then help them spread.

Let's do this in as open and multi-partisan a way as possible.

Let's call it "Foobarism" for now. Because things are screwed up. And because we could use a common plan to unscrew them. An ism.
